Social media users and bloggers can now use images from GettyImages® for "non-commercial purposes". Getty features an embed button on their stock images allowing users to share the photos.
Senior vice-president Craig Peters of Getty explained: "We saw people using Getty Images' content widely but they weren't using it with a licence and there wasn't any benefit to the photographer."
The embed feature ensures that every photo that is shared has a "meta-data" which includes the name of the photographer and links that leads back to Getty.
