Balancing scheduled TV shows and a busy schedule can be a hassle, but Verizon FiOS now lets you bring live programming on the go.
Mobile FiOS app users can now watch up to nine TV channels wherever and whenever, even away from home — including BBC America, BBC World News, EPIX, NFL Network (tablet only), Tennis Channel, Food Network, and Travel Channel — depending on their current FiOS TV package.
"The FiOS Mobile App has a wide variety of content for all ages and interests, from the do-it-yourselfer to the moviegoer, and this is just the beginning," Maitreyi Krishnaswamy, director of FiOS TV's consumer video services, said in a statement. "Close collaboration with content and software partners, allows us to deliver a seamless customer experience, which will become even better as the content choices grow over time."
All you need is an Internet connection to watch live TV away from home. Catch the latest episode of Broadchurch from the corner table at Starbucks, or watch your favorite cooking show from a Wi-Fi-enabled park bench.
Verizon also launched its application on the iPhone and Kindle Fire, rounding out its list of devices to include the iPad, iPhone, select Android tablets and phones, and the Kindle Fire HD.
FiOS customers in parts of New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., who would rather stay in on a Sunday afternoon can also use their tablets and mobile phone to watch local news and weather from the comfort of their couch, via ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, and Spanish-language channels UniMas and Univision.
The mobile app also delivers Starz, Encore, HBO, and Cinemax video on-demand channels, as well as more than 45,000 Flex View titles to rent or buy at or away from home.
The FiOS TV app is available for free download in the Google Play store, Apple iTunes Store, and Amazon Marketplace.
